Thursday, September 18, 2008 from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM (PT)
Come out to Santee and tour the Padre Dam Water Reclamation Facility (CWEA SDS Plant of the Year) and learn about expanding the facility from 2 mgd to possibly 10 mgd. The expansion is part of the El Monte Valley Ground Water Recharge Project, a joint effort between Padre Dam Municipal Water District and Helix Water District. Kevin Davis, Project Engineer of Black & Veatch, along with Tim Smith, Principal Engineer with Helix Water District, will explain how the project could generate up to 5,000 acre feet of new water for the region, ultimately destined to be a raw water source for further treatment and use in the potable water system. The water leaving the facility would be treated to advanced treatment levels (including reverse osmosis and advanced oxidation) before it is sent to the El Monte Ground Water Basin for infiltration into the aquifer. 11:00 to 12:00 Plant Tour 12:15 to 1:30 Lunch/Presentation
The purpose of this association is to enhance the education and effectiveness of California's wastewater professionals through training, certification, dissemination of technical information, and promotion of sound policies to benefit society through protection and enhancement of the water environment.
